Our neighbouring country issues a travel warning for almost all of Austria.
Starting Monday, Slovenia will put all of Austria, with the exception of Carinthia, on the “red list” of countries with a high risk of corona infections. This was decided by the Slovenian government on Friday evening, as the news agency STA reported on Saturday. According to the decision, when entering Slovenia one will have to present a negative Covid-19 test not older than 48 hours or enter a ten-day quarantine. So far these regulations were only valid for Vienna.
Exceptions, where travelers are exempt from quarantine or testing, include commuters, students, freight transport and urgent personal or business travel, whereby the return must be within 48 hours. Those who cross the border for family reasons, in order to maintain contact with close family members, may stay in the country for 72 hours. Transit through Slovenia is also unconditional if it takes place within twelve hours.
In addition, exceptions also apply to Austrian owners or tenants of real estate on the Slovenian side. They are allowed to stay in the country for 48 hours, as are farmers who work their land on the other side of the border. Harvesters who help Slovenian nationals or persons residing in Slovenia with seasonal work in Austria may return within 24 hours without conditions.
