The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior have reported 5,665 newly registered coronavirus cases (as of 9:30 a.m. today) within the last 24 hours.
However, following technical problems with the Federal Epidemiological Reporting System (EMS), there were again late reports. Approximately 1,100 new infections were reported from Lower Austria and Vienna each, and over 1,000 cases were also reported from Upper Austria.
According to the ministries, the number of deaths has now risen to 1,829, and more than 4,178 Covid-19 patients had to be treated in hospital, including 599 in intensive care units.
7-day incidence at 543
More meaningful, however, is the number of positively diagnosed cases over the past seven days per 100,000 inhabitants (7-day incidence), which according to AGES is 543 (as of yesterday, 2 p.m.).
In the AGES dashboard, new cases are no longer assigned to the registration time, but to the date of laboratory diagnosis, which may have taken place days before. This makes the curve of the epidemic course more accurate, but changes the number of newly reported infections, which was previously often used as a characteristic value, but which is still communicated by the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health.
