In the Czech Republic, the number of coronavirus deaths has exceeded the threshold of 6,000. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 6,058 infected persons have died so far, according to data released today by the Czech Ministry of Health. However, a flattening of the curve could be observed in the new infections. Within 24 hours, 4,199 new cases were recorded. That was about 3,500 fewer than on the same day a week ago.

The CTK news agency reported that the crematoria in several regions of the country were working at full capacity. Most people in the Czech Republic have always chosen cremation. The government in Prague took drastic measures weeks ago to slow down the wave of infection. Schools, restaurants and most stores are closed. A state of emergency and a night-time curfew have been imposed.
