Austrian Health Ministry and Interior Ministry report that more than 100 people have succumbed to the virus within 24 hours! Exactly 109 people died. Altogether there are now already 2054 human lives to mourn, who died from the consequences of a corona infection.
According to the said ministries, the number of newly infected persons as of Thursday was 7091. In addition, the number of patients continued to rise: 4592 sick persons have to be treated as inpatients, 67 more than the day before. 682 corona patients in the intensive care unit.

Positively tested patients on average 44 years old
New trend in the average age of positively tested persons. While the average age in calendar week 34 was 31.5 years, it rose to 44 at the beginning of November!
The largest mortality risk group is men over 84 years of age. Out of 100 cases of illness, an average of 17 die, and of affected women in this age group “only” ten. The picture is similar for people over 75 years of age: eight out of 100 men die on average, four out of 100 women.

A growing current problem is also the intensive care physicians themselves: in Carinthia and Burgenland, nine percent are currently unable to work. However, more and more of the nursing staff in intensive care units are also becoming unfit for work: In Upper Austria eight percent, in Styria seven percent and in Carinthia, Lower Austria and Burgenland six percent. In addition, reports about the capacities of our hospitals in the federal provinces – with the exception of Vienna – are causing alarm bells to ring: With conditions Tuesday in Burgenland – where there is a need for more artificial respirators – only ten are still available around the Neusiedlersee. In Tyrol half of all heart-lung machines are in use and “occupied”. It becomes narrow with free intensive care beds for corona patients: In Burgenland there were still four, in Kärnten only three and in Tirol still 17.
