Within 24 hours, 5226 new infections with the coronavirus have been reported in Austria. As usual on a Sunday, these were significantly fewer than on the previous days. However, the number of deaths, with 60 others, was also well below the triple-digit figures for Friday and Saturday. The occupancy rate in the normal and intensive care units of the hospitals also fell slightly, according to the 9:30 a.m. data from the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health.
According to these data, 4,458 Covid 19 patients were undergoing hospital treatment on Sunday morning, 139 fewer than the day before. Of these, 683 patients received intensive medical care, a decrease of 14 patients. Nevertheless, there were still 280 more infected patients in the normal areas and 84 more in the intensive care units than on Sunday a week ago.
In addition, there were on average around 80 corona deaths per day in Austria over the past seven days. Including the additional 60 victims since the previous day, 2388 infected persons have died so far. The number of active cases decreased by 1343 per day and by 130 per week to a total of 75,540.
Almost a quarter of a million people have already become infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Germany. 247,188 positive tests were registered by Sunday morning. There were also 29,831 tests from Saturday to Sunday, which for a weekend was only slightly below the average for the past seven days (30,508). 169,260 people are considered to have recovered so far.
