The number of new infections is also increasing at schools. Most of the cases were again recorded in Vienna.
1,218 students and 178 teachers have tested positive for the coronavirus in Austria as of Thursday, as the Ministry of Education has announced. That is about 0.1 percent of the 1.1 million students and 123,000 teachers. In addition, there are 51 positive cases among the administrative staff.
Most reported cases were in Vienna with 557 currently corona-positive students and 64 teachers, followed by Upper Austria (164/24), Lower Austria (159/23), Tyrol (102/16), Vorarlberg (78/12), Styria (67/14), Salzburg (41/11) and Burgenland (36/4). The fewest cases are therefore currently in Carinthia with 14 positively tested pupils and ten teachers.
