In the USA, more than 13 million confirmed corona virus infections have been reported since the beginning of the corona pandemic. This was revealed on Friday by data from the University of Johns Hopkins (JHU) in Baltimore. The number of known infections thus increased by one million within only six days. According to the university, more than 264,000 people have died in connection with an infection so far.
In the USA, a country of about 330 million people, there are more confirmed infections and deaths than in any other state. Most recently, the U.S. authorities reported an average of more than 160,000 new infections per day. For Thursday, the national holiday Thanksgiving, only 110,000 infections had been reported. Experts justified this with holiday-related delays in reporting, not with a sudden improvement in the infection situation.
