In Italy, the number of newly registered coronavirus-infected people and the number of deaths reported in connection with CoV disease remains high. As the Ministry of Health announced last night, 18,887 new cases and 564 deaths were reported in 24 hours.
The number of deaths has thus exceeded the 60,000 threshold in the country, which has a population of around 60 million. According to the Ministry of Health in Rome, 60,078 people died of or with a coronavirus infection. 1,728,878 people in Italy have been infected with the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.
Italy was the first country in Europe to be affected by the pandemic. In the second wave, the pressure on hospitals had recently eased and the infection curve flattened. Strict restrictions were relaxed in several regions. In Tuscany, Campania and Valle d’Aosta, for example, people are now allowed to travel within their region again, but are still not allowed to leave it.
