Because of the huge traffic jam, the “Eistraum” registration has been increased from four to eight checkpoints. It has jammed yesterday nevertheless: With marvelous weather thousands Viennese pilgrimaged on Tuesday to the city hall place, in order to turn on the ice pirouettes. A spokesman for the city’s marketing department was delighted: “It was the busiest day since the opening on December 24.”
The queues were admittedly also longer than ever before despite the increase: ice fans queued all the way back to the Burgtheater. A number of visitors were unfortunately undisciplined and came without mask and did not observe distance.
Closed on New Year’s Eve
Today is open from 10 am to 7 pm. On tomorrow’s New Year’s Eve day, the “Eistraum” is closed.
