The registrations of retirement and nursing homes to call for vaccines are now fully implemented, Health Minister Rudolf Anschober reported Sunday. Already 111,515 vaccine doses were called off with midnight. With end of this week approximately 30,000 vaccinations against Corona will have been accomplished. The federal provinces are requested to ensure that the notifications by the homes, which have not yet been made, are implemented quickly. The development is very positive, he said.
The strategy with a massive expansion of antigen testing is working, the department head said. In the past 24 hours, there were 14,175 PCR tests, whereas there were already 20,744 antigen tests – and always with significantly lower numbers on weekends. On Saturdays, there were 19,780 PCR and 85,514 antigen tests.
However, the infection figures are still clearly too high, he said. Anschober: “We therefore need a final sprint in the remaining two weeks of the lockdown. Hence my appeal: reduce contacts, comply with rules and minimum distance, use masks. The further we can lower the numbers, the better we can start a very careful, controlled opening after the lockdown.”
