Easy and fast access to Corona testing is the order of the day. In front of this hospital, you can already get tested at a “COVID Automaten.”
Anyone who finds a nasal swab uncomfortable and/or wants to take a proper PCR test instead of a rapid test can already do so quickly and easily at a vending machine in Austria. So far, however, only at one location, the Tauernklinikum in Zell am See (Salzburg).
There, a “do it yourself” machine is located in front of the entrance, where you can take a throat PCR test without any contact with other people. A video runs on the machine itself, and after paying by ATM or credit card, you simply get the test kit ejected.
Gargle the solution, put the sample in the slot, and it is then analyzed in the laboratory. After only twelve hours, it is precisely determined whether antibodies to Covid-19 are present. It doesn’t matter what time the test is given.
This method is aimed primarily at tourists. The costs are the same as those of a PCR test in all hospitals and amount to 115 euros. According to reports, this method is also well used by locals. The results are simply sent by e-mail.
