294 new infections have been registered in the federal capital since the previous day. At the same time, there have been 21 deaths.
As of Thursday, January 15, 2021, 77,843 positive tests have been confirmed since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the Vienna Regional Health Directorate and the Medical Crisis Staff in Vienna. In the past 24 hours, 294 new infections were again added – a worrying peak value among the provinces as the overview shows.
The number of deaths linked to the virus now stands at 1,269, meaning 21 more deaths have been reported since Thursday. 73,079 infected people are considered recovered since the pandemic began.
As of Thursday, 20,104 tests have been conducted. Here the evaluation waits with a good news for all Viennese: With 294 new Corona cases, the positive rate is only 1.4 percent. In other words, only every 71st person tested carried the virus.
It should be noted, however, that the fragmented tests cannot reflect the possible overall development.
Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) sees at least a positive trend in his city – despite suspicions that the B.1.1.7 mutation could already be spreading in Vienna.
In addition, 18,829 rapid antigen tests from environmental screenings in recent weeks were reported collected at various facilities on Thursday. The health hotline 1450 answered 6,579 calls.
