David Alaba will move from FC Bayern Munich to Real Madrid in the summer, according to a report. The Spanish newspaper “Marca” reported in the night to today that the 28-year-old Austrian has signed a four-year contract with the team of Zinedine Zidane and has already passed the medical check. He is expected to earn around ten million euros per year. Alaba’s contract at Bayern Munich expires on June 30 – meaning he can move to the royals on a free transfer.
David Alaba had been with the Munich club since 2008, winning the Champions League twice and the championship nine times. In November, FC Bayern had withdrawn its contract offer to its defensive chief after he and his advisor Pini Zahavi let a deadline set by the club for agreement pass. Since then, according to CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, there has been silence. Alaba has been allowed to negotiate with other clubs since January 1.
Alaba, who is estimated to have a market value of 65 million euros, was in talks with top clubs across Europe, including Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC. In December, he was voted Austria’s Footballer of the Year for the seventh time.
