In all public transport, FFP2 masks are mandatory as of Monday.
A disregard of the FFP2 mask obligation is with the ÖBB 40 euro penalty costs. Those who refuse must also expect to be excluded from the journey.

ÖBB not worried about mask obligation
From Monday (25 January), the mandatory wearing of FFP2 masks applies, among other things, in public transport and thus also for all passengers in the trains, buses and stations of ÖBB. The journey without FFP2 mask or with a mouth-nose protection of lower protection class is from this time no longer permitted and is penalized accordingly, reminded the federal railroads on Friday. Failure to comply with the new requirements can cost up to 40 euros.

Staff may also exclude passengers
In addition to the fine, an exclusion from the journey could also be pronounced by the train staff in case of persistent refusal. With the introduction of the new regulation, focus checks will be carried out again. The mask carrying obligation is kept in sum however very well, it had recently only few penalties given, it had already said in the middle of the week from the ÖBB. With problems because of the new regulation, which applies also to the opened trade, one does not count therefore.

All employees in the trains, buses and stations will use a FFP2 mask at work from Monday, it was stressed. In the past two weeks, several thousand have already been issued to train conductors and post bus drivers, he said.
