Car drivers will pay a fine of 120 euros for missing the 2021 vignette.

Neither excuses nor ignorance will protect you from a fine as of February 1 if you have not yet obtained a new vignette by that time.

The annual freeway vignette for 2020 will lose its validity at the end of January. As of February 1, only the new adhesive version in the color “apple green” or the digital vignette 2021 is permitted. Excuses or ignorance do not protect against a “substitute toll” – i.e. a fine of 120 euros, 65 euros for single-lane vehicles, Asfinag warned in a statement on Wednesday.

If the substitute toll is not paid, up to 3,000 euros are possible in administrative penalty proceedings.

“Apple green” annual vignette 2021 costs 92.50 euros
The freeway sticker for 2021 costs 92.50 for passenger cars. For motorcycles, 36.70 euros must be paid for the use of freeways and expressways. The ten-day vignette costs 9.50 euros for cars and 5.50 euros for motorcycles. The two-month vignette is available for 27.80 and 13.90 euros, respectively.

The adhesive version can be purchased at around 6,000 Asfinag sales partners in Austria and abroad. The digital vignette is also available in three models for ten days, two months or the whole year. This can be booked at www.asfinag.at. Once the license plate has been registered, there is no longer any need to stick or remove it.
