The number of new infections in Austria within 24 hours is still more than 1100. Since Sunday, 1124 new cases have been reported across Austria. The seven-day average was thus 1400 new infections daily – twice the number issued as a target for the end of the hard lockdown.

13,997 people were confirmed actively infected on Monday. The seven-day incidence per 100,000 population was 110.1 – just as more than double the original target. Here, too, Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Green Party) had repeatedly stressed that the aim was to get as close as possible to a 7-day incidence of 50.

7778 people died from or with Covid-19
Since the start of the pandemic, 7778 people have died from or with Covid-19, according to Interior and Health Ministry figures. Since Sunday, 57 deaths have been added; however, due to a data adjustment, Lower Austria recorded 43 new deaths.

In total, 9799 people have been infected with Sars-CoV-2 in the past week. Per 100,000 population, 87.4 people have already died from or with Covid-19. In the past seven days, 327 deaths have been added. The 1,124 new infections were offset by 1250 newly recovered patients as of Monday.

The number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals rose again. There were a total of 1701 ill patients on Monday, 25 more than on Sunday. 286 patients had to be treated in intensive care units, 13 fewer than the previous day.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 415,522 positive test results in Austria, and 393,747 people have recovered from infection. Most new infections were reported Monday from Vienna, with 252, Lower Austria had 222 and Upper Austria 157. Styria recorded 140 more infected, Salzburg 113 and Tyrol 95. Carinthia reported 78 new infections, Burgenland 25.
