Infection figures remained at a high level. From yesterday to today, 25 deaths were reported.
As of Monday, the lockdown was relaxed in Austria. Too early, many virologists and experts warned. The infection figures were too high for that, they argued. SPÖ leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner would also have taken her time.

The step was welcomed by the domestic economy. The conclusion of the domestic trade is satisfied after the first open week, although gastronomy and hotel business would be missing as frequency bringers, it was said.

Vaccinations are “progressing well” – as Health Minister Rudolf Anschober described it yesterday, Friday. “By the weekend, 150,000 people should be fully immunized,” Anschober said. The interest in vaccination is “great, the mood has turned”.

The number of new infections has remained at a high level in Austria for weeks – and they will remain so over the weekend.
