More than 500 new infections in Vienna
The number of new Corona infections in Vienna remains high, but declined on Saturday compared to the previous day: within 24 hours, 524 positive tests have been reported to the provincial sanitary directorate and the medical crisis team, this included 36 follow-up reports from previous days. On Friday, there had been 814 new cases, 217 of which were follow-up reports.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infections in the federal capital has thus risen to 95,590 positive tests. The number of deaths related to the virus was reported at 1,720, five more than the day before, and 88,540 people have recovered.
On Friday, 49,296 Corona tests were registered in Vienna. That makes a total of 3,471,274 tests in Vienna so far.
557 new infections in Lower Austria
In Lower Austria, 557 new coronavirus infections were reported on Saturday. The total number of deaths related to Covid 19 disease increased by five to 1,377 in the state, according to the office of Health Regional Councillor Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig (SPÖ). 14,725 contacts were in quarantine. That was 180 fewer than on Friday.
