A waste recycle app has been introduced in Vienna. The waste management in Vienna found out that too many plastic bottles and aluminum cans still end up in the residual waste. The RecycleMich app aims to change that. The pilot test has now been launched in Vienna.
The introduction of the RecycleMich app is intended to increase the efficiency of the collection structure and at the same time strengthen consumers’ separation behavior. The way the app works is quite simple: it makes it easy to find the nearest garbage can in Vienna by displaying route guidance. The user takes a photo of the yellow garbage can, scans the barcode on the PET bottle or beverage can and then disposes it properly. In addition, it rewards users for recycling correctly by automatically entering them in prize draws, with attractive prizes being raffled off on a weekly and monthly basis. The company also receives support from the industry. With the Eckes-Granini brands Pago, hohes C and YO, Coca-Cola, Almdudler, Innocent, Rauch, Red Bull, Vöslauer and Waldquelle, over 35 of Austria’s most popular beverage brands are already involved. Among other things, gastro and hotel vouchers await hard-working participants.
