This week, the two millionth vaccination will be administered in Austria.
Despite AstraZeneca’s total supply failure, nearly 66,000 vaccinations were administered in Austria on Thursday – more than ever before. So far, nearly two million people in Austria have been vaccinated at least for the first time.

AstraZeneca delivery failure
According to a Health Ministry release, Thursday marked the strongest vaccination day in Austria so far since Corona vaccinations began. According to the statement, “almost 66,000 vaccinations and thus for the first time more than 60,000 people could be vaccinated in one day in Austria.”

Two millionth vaccinations expected this week
A total of about 1,950,000 vaccinations have currently been administered in Austria. By the end of the week, it will thus be more than two million vaccinations, according to the Ministry of Health. “On average, one vaccination is currently administered every 2.5 seconds,” it said.

“Due to larger delivery volumes, vaccination capacity can be increased even more in the coming weeks. In the future, there will be up to 100,000 vaccinations and more in Austria on some days,” the health ministry said. Currently, the focus in Austria is on 65- to 79-year-olds and high-risk patients.
