In the past 24 hours, 2,416 new infections with the coronavirus were reported in Austria. This is 262 fewer cases than from Wednesday to Thursday and 286 fewer than on Friday a week ago.
This was the first time in weeks that the seven-day incidence had fallen below 200, and on Friday it was 198.7 cases per 100,000 population.
There have been a total of 589,229 positive test results in Austria so far. Thirty new deaths have also been reported, bringing the number of people who have died from coronavirus across Austria to 9,843. 550,470 have recovered.
Slight relief in hospitals
In the hospitals there is minimal relief: the number of sick people in hospital treatment fell by 75 to 2,122, the number of those in intensive care units fell by 19 to 558.
A total of 286,539 PCR and rapid antigen tests were reported in the past 24 hours. Of these, 83,878 were conclusive PCR tests. The positive rate was 2.9 percent. This figure is lower than last week’s average, when an average of 3.9 percent were positive on 64,285 daily PCR tests.
