The federal government, provinces, municipalities and social partners will discuss today the gradual easing of Corona measures announced by the government from mid-May. Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) held out the prospect of this in the previous week in all areas from culture to sports, gastronomy to tourism, with strict conditions. The opening commission will meet at 11 a.m. in the Federal Chancellery, with results expected in the early afternoon.
Hardly anything leaked out in the run-up. Various media speculated about May 17 at the earliest as the deadline, also for the return to regular operation at schools. Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) said Thursday evening in parliament that within the coalition, one is “more or less ready”, but beyond that, votes are still needed. The protection of intensive care units from overload is important to the minister, as reported by the Austrian Press Agency.
