India has reported a global high of 352,991 new Corona infections for the fifth consecutive day. In addition, the number of deaths linked to the virus rose by from 2,812 to a total of 195,123 within 24 hours – the highest ever in the South Asian country, according to the health ministry in New Delhi on Monday. With more than 17 million confirmed infections, India has the second most infections in the world after the U.S.
In India, with a population of about 1.35 billion, the second Corona wave is taking on larger proportions. Many clinics are overloaded and oxygen to treat Covid 19 patients is running low. Several countries have offered to help India and plan to provide vaccine components.
