A booster dose of Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine works well against coronavirus variants, according to initial data from the U.S. company. The company yesterday released data from an ongoing study of two different booster doses – one using the vaccine already licensed in many countries around the world and the other using a booster dose developed based on the virus variant first identified in South Africa.
Both would have resulted in the development of antibodies against this virus variant and the one first identified in Brazil – the newly developed booster variant more significantly with respect to the South African variant. In addition, both booster doses were well tolerated, the company said. The company plans to publish further data on the study soon.
