According to the medical crisis team of the city of Vienna, 124,000 Corona test results were registered on Wednesday, 5 May. Of these, 64,852 were PCR tests – much of which came via “Alles gurgelt” – and 59,148 were rapid antigen tests.
As for infection activity in general in the city, 301 positive test findings were reportedon Wednesday, a crisis team release said. Subtracting data adjustments from previous days, there are 219 new cases. In total, 135,522 positive confirmed tests and 2,234 deaths due to or from the effects of Covid-19 have been documented since the pandemic began in the nation’s capital. Actively laboring from the infection are 2,816 people, recovered are 130,472.
In hospitals, the number of covid patients has continued to decline. According to data from the Ministry of Interior and Health, 438 people are currently being cared for in hospitals. This is 24 fewer than on Wednesday and 100 fewer than a week ago (down 18.6 percent). Intensive medical treatment is needed by 169 people. That is four fewer than on Wednesday and twelve fewer than a week ago (minus 6.6 percent).
The Vienna Health Association, which together with the religious hospitals stems the care of Covid patients, spoke today for the first time clearly of a decline in the number of occupants, previously referred to a stabilization at a high level. “We are now seeing a decline in Covid patients and hope that this will continue,” a spokesman for the health association, published by the Austrian Press.
