Today, Wednesday is cloudy and wet. From the beginning, clouds dominate and heavy rain showers move through the whole country, especially in the south and southeast, thundery heavy rain is to be expected. In the far west as well as in the east, the dry phases will prevail again in the afternoon. The wind will shift to westerly directions and freshen up briskly, in East Tyrol northern foehn will make itself felt. Temperatures are significantly lower than before, from west to east the highs range between 9 and 20 degrees.

On Thursday, the unsettled weather continues. In most of the country, it will be cloudy throughout the day and especially on the northern side of the Alps and in the north and east, rain showers will fall frequently. It will remain mostly dry in the south and southeast, with only a few rain showers over the mountains. In the northeast, a brisk to strong west to northwest wind will blow, in the Alps a brisk north foehn will blow. Temperatures will remain quite moderate at 10 to 19 degrees.

No real sunny day in May
Friday will be mostly dry in the north and east, with frequent sunny spells, especially in the afternoon. In the Alps, on the other hand, the day will be unsettled in places and in the afternoon rain showers will generally move through again in the entire mountainous region as well as in the south and southeast. It will be a bit warmer and temperatures will rise to 13 to 20 degrees. Initially, a moderate westerly wind will blow north of the Alps.

Saturday will continue to be changeable. In the Alps, rain will fall early in the morning, otherwise it will be dry and sunny at times in the east. During the day, rain showers will fall again throughout the country, with occasional thunderstorms. With at most moderate winds from the west to northwest, temperatures will reach 10 to 21 degrees from west to east. But it won’t get any better after that: the long-term forecast predicts ten days of rain and no more real sunny days in May.
