Starting Saturday, the Czech Republic will recognize foreign Corona vaccination certificates – including the Austrian one. This will eliminate the quarantine and testing requirement.
Although there is not yet a uniform, EU-wide Green Passport, some countries rely on in-country vaccination certificates. In Austria’s neighboring country, the Czech Republic, foreign coronavirus vaccination certificates will now be recognized as of tomorrow, Saturday. These include certificates from Austria, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, Poland and Slovakia.
As Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhanek announced on Friday, this is only a temporary solution until the introduction of the planned digital EU coronavirus passport. Among others, people residing in the Czech Republic and business travelers will benefit from the regulation.
For all those who have a valid vaccination certificate from the countries listed, the strict testing and quarantine obligations upon entry will no longer be necessary.
However, one important fact should be noted. As in Austria, the vaccination certificate is valid only from the 22nd day of the first vaccination. Tourist travel without a valid reason is still not allowed according to the current status.
Under certain conditions, however, the quarantine and testing obligation in the Czech Republic can also be waived for non-vaccinated persons. For example, in the case of small border traffic – for example, for shopping – provided that the stay does not exceed twelve hours.
The Czech Republic was often considered a coronavirus hotspot. In the meantime, however, the situation here has improved considerably. The 7-day incidence is currently 79, compared with 78.8 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in Austria over the past seven days as of Friday.
