The Corona situation in Vienna remains at a stable level – but there are three districts where the numbers have risen again.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, there have been 648,187 positive Corona test results in Austria to date. As of June 11, a total of 10,652 people across Austria have died as a result of the virus and 633,105 have recovered. Currently, 343 people are undergoing hospital treatment due to infection, 99 of whom are being cared for in intensive care units.
The corona situation in Austria has improved significantly in recent months. The number of cases has been at a low level for several weeks now; since June 2, for example, there have never been more than 400 new infections reported in 24 hours. Most recently, the number of Corona cases has often been between 200 and 300, including today, Friday, when a total of 216 new infections were recorded.Half of all new Corona cases come from the federal capital! Of the 216 new infections, exactly 103 are attributable to Vienna. However, the number of active cases has dropped again and now stands at 1,177 in Vienna, compared to 1,222 active cases just one day earlier. Nevertheless, caution continues to apply after the opening steps, because that the virus is not yet defeated, shows a Corona map, which is in the hand of the daily newspaper “heute”.
On the map, the 23rd districts of Vienna are plotted, as well as their value of 7-day incidences. And three “Grätzel” clearly stand out due to their coloring. In addition to Simmering (11th district), Ottakring (16th district) and Hernals (17th district) are also colored dark. Means: in these three districts the Corona numbers have risen again compared to the previous week and the 7-day incidence is here between a value of 50 and 100.
However, Austria-wide, the 7-day incidence continues to decline. According to the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), the value is now 24.1. For comparison: yesterday, Thursday, the value was 25.3. All provinces are now below 50! The value is highest in Tyrol (38.4) and lowest in Salzburg (10.4). Vienna has a 7-day incidence of 32.0.
