More than two million Austrians (2,011,639) are fully immunized against coronavirus. That’s more than 25 percent of the current vaccine-eligible population, Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) announced on Twitter. When added to the total population, this means 22.6 percent are now fully immunized. “I am very pleased that the vaccination program is gaining speed,” the minister said.
Burgenland has the most people fully immunized (25.9 percent). This is followed by Tyrol with 24.6 percent, Carinthia with 23.6 percent, Vorarlberg with 23.3 percent, Vienna with 22.7 percent, Lower Austria with 22.3 percent, Upper Austria with 22 percent and Salzburg with 20.9 percent. Styria brings up the rear with 19.8 percent.
Six million vaccinations
More than six million (6,043,642) Corona vaccinations have been administered in Austria to date. Thus, more than four million people (4,103,875) have received at least the first prick. That’s 46.1 percent of the total population.
As of Thursday, 113,436 vaccinations had been administered. The previous record was 140,542 stings per day, which was on June 2. In the past seven days, 592,155 vaccine doses have been administered.
“This means we have reached another milestone. People living in Austria want vaccination protection and trust vaccination. But we must not let up now,” Mückstein appealed to the population to get vaccinated. “This is the decisive step towards normality.”
