For some weeks now, the Mozart Boys Choir Vienna has been allowed to rehearse again in small groups and in compliance with all measures. However, like the rest of the cultural scene and especially the music scene, the choir has suffered greatly from the effects of the coronavirus.
Until 2019, the choir had about 60 performances a year, these took place all over the world. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, concert activities have come to a standstill. Even though rehearsals are now possible again, it is hardly possible to advertise the choir in pandemic times and thus not to encourage new boys to join – which is a difficult thing to do in Vienna anyway. However, the choir needs a minimum number of members in order to keep the concert business going and to complete the orders according to the contract.
Now, the Mozart Boys Choir Vienna is urgently looking for boys who enjoy singing as well as making music together and who want to become part of the choir.
What does the choir offer? Boys who are interested in music and singing are welcome to join the Mozart Boys Choir Vienna from the age of 7 (2nd grade elementary school)!
The Mozart boys Choir Vienna will conduct on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m a rehearsal and at the same time an audition at the choir’s rehearsal location, Leebgasse 34, 1100 Vienna.
“Here we would like to give new boys the chance to get to know the Mozart Boys Choir Vienna during a “real” choir rehearsal. The boys only come together for singing rehearsals – twice a week in the afternoon – and performances. All boys receive sound musical voice training. We have once a week rehearsal and this is done in a small group. Schedules are: Mondays (in the 10th or 21st Vienna districts) or Wednesdays (in the 9th District). The main rehearsal for all choir members takes place on Fridays in the 10th district, Leebgasse 34,” Mag. Peter Lang, the artistic director and conductor of the Mozart Boys Choir Vienna said.
