Austria has ordered 1.2 million vaccine doses. In Upper and Lower Austria, thousands of vaccination appointments are still available, while Vienna is well booked.
About 1.2 million vaccine doses are scheduled to be delivered to Austria this week (week 26). According to Ages, 559,260 doses from BioNTech/Pfizer and 68,400 doses from Moderna have been firmly confirmed by manufacturers. 537,600 doses from AstraZeneca and 79,200 from Johnson&Johnson have been additionally ordered. However, in the case of AstraZeneca, it is uncertain (as is often the case) whether the promised delivery volumes will be met.
As the quantity of vaccines delivered grows, so does the number of vacant vaccination appointments. In Upper Austria alone, for example, 88,905 dates are still available. In Lower Austria, “several thousand” appointments are said to be waiting for those willing to be vaccinated in July. In Vienna, on the other hand, the booking situation is good, the city stresses. Appointments are always released at short notice.
