A Meet and Greet Event was organized by the Austrian Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) on July 12, 2021 held in Vienna’s 7th District, where the headquarters of the federation is located.
Merle Soquila-Blaschke, a WFWP Liasion-Austria-Philippines expressed her gratitude to the federation for organizing the event and likewise acknowledged the presence of some Philippine Diaspora Organizations.
Dr. Maria Riehl, the initiator and founder of Women’s Federation for Peace in Austria elaborated the goals and activities of the Federation, mainly, to empower women with the knowledge, the tools and the support needed to create peace at home, peace in our communities, our nations and throughout the world. There are also programs, designed according to local needs and capacities which include: leadership training for women and girls, education for peace & reconciliation, skills development and advocacy at major UN Offices and various regional and national institutions.
Ms. Renate Amesbauer, President of the Women’s Federation for World Peace (Austria) called on several Filipino Diaspora Organizations, who took time to introduce themselves and their corresponding groups.
Marizel Rojas, President of ENFID-Austria presented the goals, objectives and projects of the organization.
Marjorie Guidangen-Akistoy, mentioned the three organizations she represents – Global Save Life Foundation, Igorot Organization and as president of the Verein Filipina in Österreich.
The president and founder of the group Förderung der Philippinischen Kultur und Folklor, Ms. Richel Bogner, likewise introduced the objectives of her group, which is primarily to promote Filipino culture and arts in the Austrian setting.
Mag. Elisabeth Cook introduced the Family Federation for World Peace.
Highlight of the event was the conferment of the ambassador for peace award to Ms. Cecille Orola-Cech for her 47 years of dedication and service to the Filipino Community in Austria.
“I am indeed moved to have received this award… and will work to live up to the expectations and continue to be worthy of this award that has been bestowed upon me,” Cecille Orola Cech said.
Mrs. Orola-Cech added: “I am extremely happy and humbled to receive this title. I think every honour comes with a responsibility to work more towards the causes. I want to express my gratitude to my co-workers of the the Filipina in Austria organization. I believe what I do wouldn’t have been possible without their support.”
Mrs. Cecille Orola-Cech expressed her immense gratitude for receiving the title. She vowed to work selflessly towards all the social causes she is associated with. Her title encourages her to work harder and bring more change in society and people’s lives.
Ms. Renate Amesbauer, President of the Women’s Federation for World Peace (Austria) said the organisation’s decision to honour Mrs. Cecille Orola-Cech stems from her ceaseless efforts to help those in need and create a more harmonious society. This made Mrs. Orola-Cech the ideal person to bestow such an award since she has gone above and beyond the call of duty.
The recognition was given to individuals, whose lives “exemplify the idea of living for the sake of others and would dedicate themselves to practice which promote universal moral values, strong value in life, inter-religious cooperation, international harmony, renewal of dependent nations, as responsible public media in the establishment of cultural peace transcending racial, national and religious barriers”.
Representatives of the Philippine Embassy in Vienna also graced the occasion.
