Adults with weakened immune systems can get revaccinated against coronavirus in Israel. However, the issue of vaccination boosters for the general population has not yet been resolved.
In Israel, adults with a weakened immune system can now receive a booster vaccination. The third injection after two vaccinations with the Biontech-Pfizer vaccine will be given, for example, to people who have undergone an organ transplant or who suffer from a disease that causes a drop in immunity, announced Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz.
Booster vaccination not yet fixed
The issue of a booster vaccination for the entire population is being considered, but has not yet been decided, he said. With the spread of the delta variant, new infections in Israel have risen again. Vaccinations had started in the country in December. Pfizer and Biontech also plan to ask authorities in the United States and Europe to approve these booster vaccinations in the coming weeks. Their reasoning is an increased risk of infection after six months.
