The original plan was to open wider from July 22, but because of the spread of the delta mutant in Austria, new tightenings are now coming.

About 90 percent of new infections in Austria are already due to the much more contagious delta variant. For this reason, a Corona task force was convened at short notice today, Thursday. The result: Measures will be tightened again!

Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) and Tourism Minister Elisabeth Köstinger (ÖVP) presented the three new rules this evening:

From July 22, access to night catering is only possible for vaccinated people and people with a current negative PCR test result (maximum 72 hours from sampling).

The kicker for those who have already survived the virus: Recovered persons are no longer allowed in discos & co. without vaccination or PCR test!

With the green passport there is a change for vaccinated. As of August 15, the certificate will only be issued after complete immunization, i.e. after the second vaccination. For this, the QR code is valid from the day of the 2nd stitch.

The regulations for persons vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson and for recovered and tested remain unchanged.

The registration requirement in the catering industry and at events was actually supposed to fall on July 22. This will now come to nothing, the contact data collection remains mandatory until further notice.
