On the Croatian island of Pag, almost 8000 young people celebrate a beach party lasting several days. At least 215 from Austria are infected with the coronavirus – among them many first-time vaccinated. The remaining visitors are now to be tested as well.
In Austria, 215 Corona infections have been registered among travelers returning from a festival in Croatia. The event “Austria goes Zrce” took place last week on the island of Pag. Nearly 8000 people between the ages of 19 and 27 had traveled to the beach party, which lasted several days, organizer Martin Reitstätter said. Austrian health authorities have now asked visitors to get tested to detect further possible infections.
According to Reitstätter, all partygoers were double-checked to see if they had been vaccinated, tested or recovered from Covid-19 before entering the site. “We followed the guidelines of the Austrian and Croatian governments,” he said. Reitstätter rejected accusations made by a visitor who, in an interview with the newspaper Der Standard, reported that controls were sometimes lax.
