Slowly but steadily, the number of new infections reported daily in Germany is rising. Just under 5000 cases were last reported at the beginning of June. The incidence rate is still relatively low, and the number of deaths is also at a low level.

The seven-day incidence continues to rise. According to data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Wednesday morning, it was 25.1 – the previous day the value had been 23.5, and a week ago it was 18.5. Health offices in Germany reported 4996 new Corona infections to the RKI within one day. This is according to figures reflecting the status of the RKI dashboard as of 04:09. A week ago, the value for Germany had been 3571 infections. An increase of 1425 cases.

The incidence was in the pandemic so far basis for many Corona restrictions, for example in the context of the federal emergency brake, which expired at the end of June. In the future, other values such as hospital admissions will be taken into account to a greater extent. Across Germany, 14 deaths were recorded within 24 hours, according to the new data. A week ago, there were 25 deaths.

The RKI counted 3,799,425 proven infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected. The RKI reported the number of people who recovered as 3,671,800. The number of people who died from or with the involvement of a confirmed infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 91,817.
