New infections have exceeded 1,000 for the first time since May.
Austria is at the beginning of the fourth wave of coronavirus. New infections continue to rise sharply. 1,005 new corona infections were registered from Thursday to Friday. This is the first time since May that the threshold of 1,000 new infections within 24 hours has been exceeded.
There are no new deaths related to Covid 19 infection to report, bringing the pandemic death toll in Austria to 10,753 so far. The number of active cases increases by 468 to 7,717. The seven-day incidence rises to 55.81.
In the past 24 hours, 61,953 PCR tests have been performed, with a positive rate of 1.62 percent.
There are currently 205 people in Austria’s hospitals linked to covid disease, up two from the previous day. 48 patients are in intensive care – three fewer than the day before.
