There was an increase in the daily average of new Corona infections in Austria. This is now in a range above 1,000 infections. The role of the delta mutation is also noticeable in the number of reproductions.
This has risen again and is now at 1.21, after 1.14 last Friday. Extrapolated, 100 infected persons now infect 121 more persons.
Rate of increase of new infections not decreased
This is the result of the weekly analysis published on Friday by AGES (Agency for Health and Food Safety) and Graz University of Technology. The daily rate of increase in new infections also remains high, at 7.2 percent (as of August 18). Last week it had been 5.3 percent. According to AGES, the effective reproduction number is above 1 in all provinces. However, for Burgenland, the estimated value of the effective reproduction number is subject to great uncertainty due to the low number of cases, the experts emphasized.
