According to the Robert Koch Institute, more than four million corona infections have been detected in Germany.
Once again, public health departments report more than 10,000 new infections. The incidence of hospitalization in Germany continues to rise. In addition, more than four million infections with Sars-CoV-2 have now been detected.
Since the start of the Corona pandemic, more than four million people in Germany have been confirmed to be infected with the Sars-CoV-2 pathogen. So far, public health departments have reported 4,005,641 infections, according to data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). The actual number of infections in this country is likely to be higher, as many infections go undetected.
In the course of Saturday, the offices transmitted 10,453 cases, according to the report. A week ago, the figure had been 8416 infections. The seven-day incidence of new Corona infections rose again. Thus, it was most recently 83.1 – the previous day the value had been 80.7, a week ago 74.1, according to figures reflecting the state of the RKI dashboard at 4:13.
The incidence of new infections has been the basis for many Corona restrictions in the pandemic so far, such as under the federal emergency brake that expired at the end of June. In the future, other values, such as the number of hospital admissions, will also be given greater consideration.
The RKI last gave the number of Corona patients admitted to hospitals per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days as 1.83 on Friday (previous day 1.74). A nationwide threshold for when the situation should be considered critical is not provided for hospitalization incidence, in part because of wide regional variations.
The previous peak was around 15.5 around Christmas time, and this seven-day incidence is calculated based on the date of notification to the local health department, according to RKI data. Between an infection and the hospitalization therefore pass on average about ten days, this value reflects the infection situation thus noticeably delayed.
Across Germany, 21 deaths were recorded within 24 hours, according to the new data. A week ago, there had been 12 deaths. The RKI gave the number of those who recovered as 3,768,400. The number of people who died from or with the involvement of a confirmed infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 92,346.
