Starting in 2022, there should also be Corona vaccines for infants. At least, that’s what German pediatricians expect.
German pediatricians expect Corona vaccines for infants to be available starting in 2022. “We firmly expect that there will be vaccines for all age groups from next year, even licensed up to newborns,” Munich pediatrician Florian Hoffmann, senior physician at the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) Children’s Hospital, told the Funke Mediengruppe newspapers. Vaccines for children under the age of twelve can be expected as early as the end of this year, he said.
Moderna has third vaccination tested
Meanwhile, U.S. vaccine manufacturer Moderna submitted initial data to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for testing of a booster vaccine. The booster vaccine elicited a robust antibody response to the delta variant, Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel said.
He said the company also plans to submit the data to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in the coming days. In mid-August, the FDA had approved a third Moderna vaccine for people with a weakened immune system.
