From Thursday to Friday, 2,341 new Corona infections were registered in Austria. The value is again significantly above the seven-day average (1,785).
In addition, there are ten new deaths related to Covid 19 infection to report, bringing the pandemic death toll in Austria to 10,832 so far. The number of active cases increases by 726 to 20,021. The seven-day incidence is 140.40.
There are currently 668 people in Austria’s hospitals linked to Covid disease, up by four from the previous day. This means that the number of Covid 19 patients requiring treatment in hospitals is at its highest level since May 22 (679). 183 patients are in intensive care – down five from the day before.
In the past 24 hours, 125,429 PCR tests have been performed, with a positive rate of 1.87 percent.
Vaccination
At the same time, the number of vaccinations increased slightly on Wednesday compared to the previous day. 14,370 Austrians received a vaccination dose, compared to 13,138 on Wednesday. Within the last week, 78,856 vaccine doses were administered. At the beginning of June, more than 143,000 people were vaccinated on the peak day. In total, 5,583,675 people have already received at least a partial vaccination, according to E-vaccine passport data: That’s 62.5 percent of the population. Meanwhile, exactly 5,280,942, or 59.1 percent of Austrians, are fully immunized.
Full immunization, which experts say protects against a severe course of the disease, has been received by 66.9 percent of the population in Burgenland, followed by Lower Austria (62 percent), Styria (59.7 percent), Vorarlberg (58.4 percent), Tyrol (57.7 percent), Vienna (57.6 percent), Salzburg (55.6) and Carinthia (55.2 percent). Upper Austria continues to bring up the rear with 54.5 percent of full immunizations.
