In Austria, 1,857 new infections with the coronavirus were reported on Sunday. That’s fewer than the numbers above the 2,000 mark in each of the past few days, but the 1,774 corona infections reported last Sunday were already the highest number on that day since April. Ten people have been hospitalized for corona infection in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 700 patients,184 of whom are intensive care patients.
In intensive care beds, the increase since yesterday, Saturday, is thus six people. Two more deaths related to Covid were reported, thus 10,839 people have died as a result of the Corona virus throughout Austria. The number of active cases, which passed the 20,000 mark on Friday, grew to 21,309. A week ago, there were 17,714 registered people actively suffering from infection.
12,564 vaccinations were administered on Saturday, about the same number as on Saturday last week (12,826) .Overall, 5,603,256 have received at least partial vaccination (62.7 percent of the population), and 5,297,801 people of the Austrian population are fully immunized, or 59.3 percent, according to E-vaccination data – an increase of about 0.6 percent in one week.
Full immunization rates by age group: Among 12- to 24-year-olds, 45.1 percent are fully immunized; in the 25- to 34-year-old age group, the rate is 56.5 percent; and among 35- to 44-year-olds, the rate is 62.6 percent. 67.7 percent of those ages 45 to 54 are fully protected against Covid-19, and 76.9 percent in the 55 to 64 group. Those ages 65 to 74 have a fully immunized rate of 82.5 percent, those ages 75 to 84 have a rate of 87.6 percent, and the 85-plus group has a rate of 87.6 percent. All data refer to Saturday in each case.
