Even if the increase in Corona infections is moderate, it is going up throughout the country. This is also reflected on the Corona traffic light. For the first time in many weeks, Salzburg, a federal state, has again reached the “red zone”. This means that there is a very high risk of contracting Corona in the state. The remaining states, like the state as a whole, are orange, with the exception of Burgenland, where medium risk and therefore yellow applies, meaning there is high risk.

Burgenland is also the only province below the value of 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the risk-adjusted seven-day balance, which measures not only the number of cases but also factors such as the age of the patients. Salzburg, with 223.3, has the worst value by a razor-thin margin, ahead of Vienna (223.1). In terms of the risk figure, which is now important for coloring, Salzburg is the only state above 100 and therefore red. Vienna is also already at risk with 91.5. On the other hand, Carinthia and Styria are only just above the borderline of medium risk.

Many PCR tests in Vienna
Last week, the number of tests remained low, with the exception of Vienna, where there were around 54,000 tests per 100,000 inhabitants. In addition, the more reliable PCR test is used particularly often in the federal capital. This is probably an indication of why the number of asymptotic cases in Vienna, at 54 percent, is far above the national average of 36 percent. The other states are in the test range of 30-40,000 – with the exception of Tyrol with just under 12,000. 63 percent of the infection cases were clarified.

The highest incidence was recently recorded in Krems/Donau with a good 346, ahead of Braunau with 336. In total, around 15 municipalities had an incidence above 200. The district of Jennersdorf in southern Burgenland has the best value with around 29.
