From Saturday to Sunday, 1,678 new Corona cases were registered.
Thus, there are currently 23,213 active cases. A slight trend reversal is evident in the 7-day incidence. For the past four days, the average has been falling, and currently the seven-day incidence is 157.34, marking the first time the weekly average has fallen since July 3.
In addition, six new Covid-related deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.
However, as of Thursday, current case numbers no longer count as the most important gauge for measures to combat the pandemic. Policymakers are now basing their measures on occupancy in intensive care units. Currently, there are 212 intensive care patients, one more than on Saturday. In normal wards, 845 patients are currently being treated – a decrease of 15 patients.
Across Austria, intensive care bed occupancy with Covid patients is currently at 10 percent; in Vienna, occupancy is well above the Austrian average at 16 percent.
In terms of vaccination progress, Austria is still scraping the 60 percent mark. 5,661,406 people (63.38% of the total population) have received at least one Corona vaccination – as of Saturday – of which 5,346,687 people (59.86%) have full vaccination coverage. As of Saturday, 10,555 people have received a vaccination.
