Austria: Since October 1, the new climate ticket is available in advance: To date, it has been sold 25,117 times in Austria.
This was reported by the responsible minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) on Saturday: “You can clearly see: many people want to travel in a climate-friendly way.” The greatest demand so far has been for the Climate Ticket Classic. Of these, 13,814 tickets were ordered (55 percent).8,289 of the Klimaticket Jugend have been sold so far (33 percent). 2,763 tickets fell into the Climate Ticket Senior category (eleven percent) and 251 into Special (one percent).
Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland now also on board
At the end of September, Gewessler and the governors of the eastern region had announced the agreement for the Klimaticket. Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland had not initially participated in the initiative and continued to negotiate. The validity of the climate ticket now comes with 26 October Austria far into force.
The regular ticket for the whole of Austria is available for 1,095 euros, until the end of October it costs 949 euros with a discount. In the reduced form – for senior citizens, everyone under 26 and travelers with disabilities – the climate ticket is available at the start for 699 instead of 821 euros.
