From Wednesday to Thursday, 2,169 new Corona infections were registered in Austria. This figure is well above the average of 1,845 cases over the past seven days.
There are also eight new deaths related to Covid 19 infection to report, bringing the pandemic death toll in Austria to 11,143 so far. The number of active cases rises to 20,398, with a seven-day incidence of 145.08.
217 intensive care patients
There are currently 870 people in Austria’s hospitals related to covid disease, up five from the previous day. 217 patients are in an intensive care unit – four more than the day before. According to AGES, the utilization rate of intensive care beds with Covid patients is ten percent.
Vaccinations
According to the federal immunization dashboard, 11,759 Corona vaccinations were administered yesterday (Wednesday). In total, 5,801,176 of Austrians have now received at least one partial vaccination, according to E-vaccination passport data. That is 64.9 percent of the population. 5,498,383 people (61.6 percent) are already fully immunized.
A closer look at the full immunization rates by age group shows that 50.4 percent of people aged 12 to 24 have received two vaccinations, while the rate for people aged 25 to 34 is 59.8 percent and 65.3 percent for people aged 35 to 44. Sixty-nine and a half percent of people ages 45 to 54 are protected against Covid-19 with two stitches, and 78.4 percent in the 55 to 64 group. Those ages 65 to 74 have a full immunization rate of 83.6 percent, those ages 75 to 84 have 88.5 percent and the 85-plus group has 88.6 percent.
The highest vaccination coverage rate (fully immunized) is in Burgenland, at 69.1 percent. In Lower Austria, 64.4 percent of the population is vaccinated, and in Styria, 62.3 percent. After Vienna (60.6), Vorarlberg (60.4), Tyrol (59.8), Carinthia (58.1) and Salzburg (57.8), Upper Austria brings up the rear with a vaccination coverage rate of 56.6 percent.
