When will the Corona pandemic finally end? The current Corona numbers have now remained at a high but stable level for a long time, now they are possibly in the beginning climb again, however, there are very large regional differences. The Corona traffic light commission most recently put the state of Salzburg on red.
In contrast, Vienna, which has long struggled with higher infection figures, remains yellow. In the federal capital, the stricter Corona measures have had an effect, epidemiologist Gerald Gartlehner said Friday in Vienna today.
When the pandemic could be over
In addition, the expert also commented on a possible end of the pandemic – in the spring.
Gartlehner commented, “I think with the beginning of the warmer season, we’ll really have it behind us then.”
The “hard way?”
According to the expert, in the months of March or April, there will probably already be enough immunity in the population against covid. But how will that go? “We can do it the hard way, by having a lot of infections, or the easier way, in which people get vaccinated,” Gartlehner told ORF.
Tougher measures to be maintained in Vienna
In the federal capital, the stricter Corona rules should be extended in any case as the colder season begins – until beyond the end of October. “They should probably really apply until the end of the cold season,” Gartlehner said in Vienna today, Friday.
In the debate about the introduction of 3G in the workplace, the epidemiologist calls for swift action: “It’s high time that the 3G rule in the workplace comes.”
