Vienna. The prospect of the 2-G regulation, which applies from today, Monday, already showed effect at the weekend. The rush at the vaccination centers was high throughout the country, there were sometimes long queues. On Saturday alone, 10,488 initial shots were administered. In total, nearly 32,000 vaccinations were administered nationwide on Saturday. In total, there were 213,000 vaccinations this week – the most since the beginning of August.
Most of the vaccinations carried out on Saturday were “booster vaccinations” (17,113), according to the figures from the Ministry of Health. Here, therefore, the existing vaccination protection was refreshed. Another 4300 people picked up the second sting (again, probably some of these were booster vaccinations after a Johnson & Johnson vaccination).
Another 10,488 people just got their first vaccination on Saturday. Most were it with 2245 in Vienna before Carinthia with 2105, Lower Austria (1638) and Tirol (1460). In Upper Austria, the province with the lowest vaccination coverage in Austria, there were 1150 first vaccinations.
However, there had already been a significant increase in vaccinations on Friday – even before the official announcement of the planned 2-G rule. Among other things, 17,011 first-time vaccinations were administered on Friday.
The number of registrations for vaccinations has also increased throughout the country. Thus, in Upper Austria alone, 8000 registrations for vaccinations were registered on Friday. Most recently, the value of daily booked vaccination appointments was just over 1000.
