Shortly before the nationwide lockdown takes effect, opponents of the Corona pandemic measures have called for demonstrations in Vienna, with several thousand activists expected in the city on Saturday. The FPÖ is organizing the largest rallies. However, their chairman Herbert Kickl will not be there, he tested positive for the corona virus and is in quarantine.
The Interior Ministry assumes that right-wing extremists will also be found in the ranks of the demonstrators. Thus, mobilizations have been observed among identitarians and the hooligan scene. There have already been threats against political opponents in the run-up. The police are deployed with a large contingent. About 1,300 officers were commanded in the federal capital. The Ministry of the Interior announced close controls of the mask obligation or the 2G proofs, also on the access routes to the assembly points. The FFP2 mask obligation also applies.
