The numbers are dropping – and clearly so. After the new all-time high of nearly 15,809 new infections on November 19, 8,526 new infections were reported in Austria on Monday. A week ago Monday, there had been 13,806 cases. This also brings the 7-day average down further, to 11,627 cases. The seven-day incidence – the number of cases within a week among 100,000 residents – is currently 914.39 – well below the peak of 1,094 again.
There have also been 37 new deaths associated with Corona infection in the past 24 hours. Overall, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 12,425 lives in Austria since the outbreak.
Currently, there are 145,293 people actively infected with coronavirus in Austria.
The current decline has not yet filtered through to intensive care units. 619 corona patients are currently in intensive care, and 3,325 people are currently hospitalized. .
Vaccinations over the weekend
In the last seven days, 759,676 vaccine doses were administered, which is 10.94 percent more than the week before. On Sunday, 50,985 vaccine doses were administered, which break down as follows: First prick: 6,412; Second prick: 6,180; Third prick: 38,393.
Carinthia new frontrunner
The trend reversal in the number of new infections is also clearly visible in almost all provinces. Both in Salzburg and in Upper Austria, the numbers have recently dropped significantly. The only exception is Carinthia. With today’s figures, the state in the south has even replaced Salzburg, which had been the frontrunner for weeks. The 7-day incidence there is now 1376, with Salzburg 10 points behind in second place.
